Women who have contributed to the success of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Community Advice Centre were honoured at a ceremony on Saturday.

The event, at Sattavis Patidar Centre, in Forty Avenue, Wembley, followed celebrations for International Women’s day, on March 8.

Among those who attended, were the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Ambassador to the UK, Jadranka Negodic, and Mayor of Brent, Councillor Harbhajan Singh.

Representatives of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Woman’s Forum in Sweden were also present.

Zaim Pasic, chairman of BHCAC, said: “Women members have played a fundamental role in establishing the Brent organisation, securing funding for the group and managing its activities over many years. Over the past five years, individuals have won a range of awards in recognition of their work and the organisation itself has also been accredited for its activities in Brent and other nearby borougs.”

The organisation, in High Road, Willesden, was established to help refugees who fled the Balkan wars in the early 1990s.
